This program is designed for beginner hikers. Senaru Crater Rim is one of the best spots to witness the sunrise, offering spectacular views of the lake and Mount Rinjani’s baby volcano. Although this program doesn’t include the summit, the experience is still memorable and scenic.
We will pick you up and transfer you to our hotel and office in Senaru.
Wake up at 6:30 AM for breakfast. At 7:00 AM, we will depart from the hotel to the Rinjani Information Center (RIC) in Senaru (601 meters), which is about a 10-minute drive. The trek begins here, passing through Post 1 (900 meters), Post 2 (1,500 meters), and Post 3 (2,000 meters) before arriving at the Senaru Crater Rim (2,641 meters), where we will camp overnight.
Wake up at 6:15 AM to catch the sunrise at 6:30 AM. After breakfast, we will descend through Post 3 (2,000 meters), Post 2 (1,500 meters), and Post 1 (900 meters), finally returning to the Rinjani Information Center in Senaru.
When you arrive in Lombok, whether by plane or boat, our staff will pick you up and transfer you to the hotel in Senaru. Once in Senaru, you will meet our staff for registration and a short briefing with your guide. If you arrive early, you can visit the nearby Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep Waterfalls. We recommend arriving a day before the trek begins to avoid any delays.
Our guide will pick you up from your hotel lobby at 6:30 AM and transfer you to the Rinjani Information Center (RIC), where we will register and obtain National Park entry tickets. The trek will take us through tropical forests filled with rich flora, birdlife, and a variety of butterflies. You might spot orchids or, if lucky, the rare black ebony leaf monkey, known locally as lutung. We will take rest stops along the way, including at Montong Satas Shelter (1,500 meters).
Your guide will share local legends and stories of the surrounding village. Features along the trail include the large Bunut Nenkang tree, which has a unique shape.
At Senaru Crater Rim Camp, enjoy sweeping views across Lake Segara Anak (2,000 meters) to the summit of Mount Rinjani. Within the crater, Mount Baru (2,351 meters), an active volcano, last erupted dramatically in 2009. On clear evenings, you can also enjoy spectacular sunrises and sunsets, as well as views of the Gili Islands and Bali.
From 6:30 AM to 8:00 AM, have breakfast and relax while enjoying the views. Afterward, we will descend the trail back to Senaru Village, starting with open grasslands and returning to the shaded tropical forest.
